The Bailiffgate Singers were formed in 2005 and named after their rehearsal venue – The Bailiffgate Museum in Alnwick. They are a mixed choir based in Alnwick singing for the sheer pleasure of making music.
They usually rehearse three programmes of work each year – spring, summer and Christmas – with two or three concerts at the end of each term. They tend to sing one, longer, classical work, and several short pieces (folk, popular, show songs, gospel, classical and more). Their concerts are lively, sociable events, interspersed with readings and poetry.
They have worked with local composers to develop and perform new music, and sometimes collaborate with other local ensembles as part of larger musical productions. The breadth of their repertoire ensures that there is always something for everyone.
